The Drawing Circus returns to The Old Market this month with a homage to German Expressionist film. The central Expressionist ethic of change, and a willingness to look to the future by experimenting with bold, new ideas and artistic styles, is as relevant today as it was in 1920s Germany.
Join our four silent movie actresses, eternally hostage to their time and their genre, as they play out scenes from the Expressionist classics in which they starred.
Expect the cityscapes and Yoshiwara of Metropolis and the cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
Expect themes of madness, insanity, romance, betrayal - expect the very subversion of Realism!
Above all, expect a cinematic evening of drawing!
Bring your own materials, all abilities welcome. Doors open at 20:00, poses start at 20:30.
